The double tragedy of the Chinese quake

It was a tragedy that struck the people of southern China, killing anywhere between 55 000 and 80 000 people. However, this tragedy has completed derailed the world's attention from the tragedy that has been going on in Tibet for generations. The death toll there has far exceeded the death toll from the earthquake, and these deaths were intentionally inflicted. While the victims of the earthquake deserve our aid and sympathy, so to do the people of Tibet, whose suffering will continue long after the damage from the quake has been repaired and the deaths forgotten.
